Small-to-medium sites need to perform many of the same tasks as their larger cousins, but on a different scale. Many excellent open source applications are overkill for these sites, and no open source program can anticipate every need.

the technical stuff
- PHP/MySQL applications:
- Your choice of valid HTML 4.0 or XHTML 1.0 (strict).
- Form-based applications are secured against cross-site scripting.
- Form-mail applications are secured against header injection.
- JavaScript and AJAX: Wherever possible, I use unobtrusive methods. This is easier to maintain and keeps your code clean.
- All scripts are documented and liberally commented.
- Scripts are progressively enhanced. You choose the base level you deem appropriate for your client's situation.
